Presentación

This course allows you to gain the latest knowledge and skills required of telecommunication and electronic engineers with an emphasis on hands-on learning. As well as developing your technical ability, the course focuses on building wider professional skills such as planning, research techniques and promoting innovation.

Requisitos

Typically you need one from the following
• an honours degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, usually at least second-class
• suitable professional qualifications in an appropriate engineering area
• a degree in any discipline plus at least one year of relevant industrial experience
• a diploma in a technological area, with at least three years of relevant experience
Overseas applicants from countries whose first language is not English must normally produce evidence of competence in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent) is the standard for non-native speakers of English. If your English language skill is currently below an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English level.

Programa

Core modules
Communication media
This module builds on a knowledge of analogue electronics and provides you with knowledge of the physical characteristics of different types of communications media used within data communication networks.
Digital electronic system design
This module develops your skills in advanced digital electronic system design. You examine the competitive nature of electronic system procurement and implementation, evaluate the selection of hardware description languages and implementation methods and critically analyse and compare system specifications.
Project
An MSc project in a subject area which helps to develop your personal and professional interests and career direction, supported by an academic supervisor.
Management modules

Finance and marketing
This module covers marketing and financial management in the process of product development in a competitive market place. It includes performance control and management, market driven product development the impact of marketing on financial performance and budgetary control and performance measurement systems.
Management of strategy, change and innovation
You study the nature and significance of strategic management including theories, insights and methods which support a manager in working strategically. You also gain an understanding of the impact of change and innovation on organisational behaviour.
Project and quality management
In this module you develop a detailed project plan for a complex engineering project using sophisticated project management methods, and design strategies to investigate and manage project risk and analyse the results of such an investigation.
