Aerospace Engineering at Swansea University is at the forefront of the latest technology. As a student on the BEng Aerospace Engineering course, you will be taught by leading experts, using the latest equipment, including a state-of-the-art flight simulator.


The entry requirements for the BEng Aerospace Engineering course are:

ABB-BBB at A level (including Mathematics).

Other recommended subjects include:

Design Technology

We do recognise the individual nature of each application and so the above offer range should be viewed only as a guide. In some circumstances we may make different offers or points offers where appropriate, e.g. ‘300 UCAS points including 100 in Mathematics’.

Or 32 at IB (preferably to include good marks in HL Mathematics).

Students studying for BTEC qualifications require DDD, plus B grade at A level Mathematics. Studying A level Mathematics alongside a BTEC qualification is our strongly recommended entry pathway for those studying BTEC qualifications. Students not studying A level Mathematics, alongside their BTEC qualification, require D*D*D - D*DD with D in ‘Mathematics for Technicians’ and D in ‘Further Mathematics for Technicians’, plus minimum GCSE grades of B in Mathematics and 2 x B grades in Science/Engineering/Manufacturing.

Students with industrial experience and qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have studied access or vocational qualifications, you are advised to apply for the Integrated Foundation Year.

If you are applying for Level Two (second year) entry, in order to be considered, you will need to have already covered the topics offered in Swansea at Level One (first year) in a certified qualification, with a high overall score.

Our Aerospace Engineering graduates go on to have interesting and varied careers. Our degrees provide an excellent basis for a professional career in a wide variety of aerospace and related areas.


Our aim is for Aerospace Engineering graduates to be able to understand, evaluate and interpret data, develop arguments and make judgements based on fundamental and advanced concepts relevant to the application of engineering to the aeronautical and aerospace industries.

The comprehensive theoretical studies are complemented by group design exercises, industrial site visits and hands-on aerospace practicals.

This offers you the chance to work on current industrially related issues, in addition to laboratory work utilising our in-house wind tunnel for aerodynamics and jet engine test stand.

Practical flying experience is gained from the College’s state-of-the-art Merlin MP521X engineering flight simulator and flying lessons at a local airport. You will also cover a flight test course in aircraft performance, stability and control at a flight school in a Jetstream twin turboprop aircraft.
