Presentación

The Higher Diploma programme equips students with the skills needed to succeed at higher level management in the hospitality industry. The emphasis is on business, tourism development, sustainability, entrepreunership, human resource management, financial decision making, events management and food & beverage studies . Students work individually as well as in groups in order to develop their critical thinking and managerial skills. This challenging programme will prepare you well for a top quality internship either in Switzerland or abroad.

Requisitos

IMI Diploma or equivalent qualification
Proficiency in English: 5.5 IELTS or equivalent

Applicants with the required English level have the option to refresh their language skills through one of our four week, intensive Pre-Sessional English Courses (PSECs). Applicants who need to improve their English level to meet the requirements for course entry can join one of our 11 week University English Preparatory Courses (UEPPs).

Programa

Personal Professional Development 2

Develops reflection on career and personal development, recognises academic and personal progression in support of future career goals. These classes will help students in the development of self discipline and guide them in recognising their potential.

Enterprise Development Project

This unit allows students to expand their knowledge of marketing, finance and human resources within a hospitality context. Students engage with a hospitality business scenario within Switzerland and develop and present a commercial proposal for the scenario to industry representatives.

Financial Decision Making for Hospitality Professionals

Students will gain expertise in analysing hospitality financial results and the consequences on these results on pricing and revenue management decisions; budgeting and captial investment decisions.

International Hospitality Operations Management

This unit engages students in international hospitality operations management based on industry case studies with a specific focus on the management of food and beverage, rooms divisions and ICT departments

Hospitality Services Marketing

Student develop a critical understanding of marketing, with specific focus on the service industries. Key marketing concepts such as marketing mix (Product, Price, Promotion and Place), internal marketing, CRM and marketing research are explored and engaged with.

Managing People in the Hospitality Industry

This unit examines the importance of Human Resource Management within the Hospitality Industry and assesses organisational theory, behaviour, motivation, training and performance management and their relationship to successful hospitality organisations

Elective Unit: Int. Hotel Resort Facilities and Operations

Explore the design and development of Hotel Resorts and analyse the environmental and maintenance issues associated with their operation and management

Elective Unit: Food Costing Purchasing & Merchandising

Assess key management disciplines required to procure, control and sell menu items effectively with a special focus on costing and promotion in the hospitality industry.

Compulsory Internship

Students are required to complete a 22-week internship in a hospitality-related environment in order to consolidate and develop the skills and knowledge acquired.
