Presentación

Our Combined Studies degree programme is ideal for independent-minded individuals who enjoy the challenge of mastering more than one subject.

Our Combined Studies degree is a more flexible course of study – you can choose between two and five subjects from a varied list to design your own degree.

It’s a great choice if you want to study different areas that match your career aims exactly, or if you want to keep your options open. We’ll give you support and guidance to make sure your programme of study reflects what you want to do.

If you study mostly arts modules, your certificate will read BA (Hons) Combined Studies. If you study mostly science modules, you’ll graduate with BSc (Hons) Combined Studies.

Class contact hours, teaching and assessment methods vary from module to module. A typical arts module may have one lecture and one seminar each week. For a science module, you may have a lecture, a tutorial and a practical session every week. On average, the total class contact hours per week would be 12-18 hours.

Since the job market demands graduates to be ever more adaptable and multi-skilled, many students see the positive worth of combining multiple subjects.

Employers often appreciate that students who design their own degree can be more decisive, think independently and develop good self-management skills.

The Combined Studies degree is designed to develop both subject-specific competence and key skills for employability. You will acquire a range of transferable skills that can be applied in a variety of working environments. These include: the ability to present arguments orally, visually and in writing, team working, time management, and a flexible and analytical approach to problem solving.

Recognising the need for our graduates to be able to stand out in a competitive jobs market, the University of South Wales has developed a series of employability initiatives that exist within each academic Faculty.
