Computer graphics is one of the fastest growing areas of computing today, and this degree programme enables you to gain a thorough understanding of contemporary topics and advances at the frontier of computer gaming. This course combines the study of computing science with specialist topics in computer graphics, as you initially cover two and three dimensional graphics fundamentals and continue to develop your skills and knowledge throughout the course.
During the degree you will gain first-hand experience in a variety of computing subjects, including real time simulation, rendering techniques, art content and collision detection. You will learn about graphics processing performance and how to exploit the power of modern GPUs using shading languages.
In the final year you will have the opportunity to conduct an extended, independent research project in computer graphics, on a topic of your own choice.

Depending on which specialties you studied during your degree course, you will have the necessary skills to work in many application areas of computing science, from computer games development to computer systems engineering, and many more. Our students also use their technical and entrepreneurial skills to play influential roles in the creation of companies such as Travel Republic, Evoke systems, Fyfo and Shoretech systems.
