This Creative Arts course encourages an entrepreneurial approach to creative practice. You’ll have the opportunity to produce original, practical work, while tackling the challenges of critical thought and reflection.
You’ll be taught by tutors who are all practitioners in their fields: they’ll be writers, composers, performers, choreographers, painters, ceramicists, sculptors, textile designers or drama practitioners with good profiles of publications, exhibitions, recordings and performances. You’ll benefit from their knowledge of the industries in which you later may work.
Creative Arts is a combined award, but through optional and project modules the balance between your two subjects can be flexible.
The subjects are mainly delivered autonomously; that is, when you are doing art you are completely involved in that area. However, there are modules where you can explore relationships between disciplines, for example a module where composers and choreographers work together.
Cross-subject and collaborative projects are major pieces of independent work in your final year, giving you the chance to work across your subjects and collaborate with like-minded artists. Examples have included: a music-theatre event, dance with film, a CD of songs to specially written texts, art installation with music or sound design, and film with a music score.
For details of modules please refer to the module descriptions for each subject within Creative Arts.
