BA (Hons) Events and Leisure Marketing is a Marketing Management Degree which is designed to develop the specialist knowledge required for the leisure industry and the use of events in their various forms. The leisure sector is made up of many industries including tourism, sport, extreme sports, media, hospitality, retail, music, art, events, gaming, recreation and many more. What these industries share is the role of experience as the central motive for the customers.

Your third year will be spent on professional industrial placement, either in the UK or overseas. The School’s team of placement advisors actively promotes the concept of student placement to a wide range of commercial and public sector employers and supports our students in identifying and securing a placement that reflects their interests and skills. Some of our students choose to organise their own placement, with our team providing advice and support.
The placement is an integral part of the course, giving you the opportunity to relate theory to practice in a real business environment, and often to take on managerial responsibility.
The fact that our graduates have substantial experience of the real-life marketing and management environment is a key factor in their career success. Recent placement organisations for Leisure Marketing students have included Saatchi & Saatchi, the All England Tennis Club, British Airways Holidays, Sony Music, Thorpe Park , Sheffield Arena, BMW, Adidas and Jordan PR.

Events & Leisure Marketing opens the door to a huge range of organisations that are collectively located in the leisure sector; from arts and music, to events such as Henley, Wimbledon and Formula One, through to recreation, computer games manufacturers and sports and tourist attractions. Your sector knowledge applies to any business that promotes its products or services in a leisure context too.
In addition to this sectoral specialism, as a marketing graduate you will be able to work outside the sector in any marketing or business development-related position. So, with such a wide variety of potential employers, your career prospects are excellent, and the practical skills you will have learned with us will stand you in good stead for your future.
