Presentación

This course is delivered by the AACSB-accredited Business School, an accreditation which places us within the top institutions globally for business degrees. Building on a relevant Foundation degree qualification, this dynamic one-year Honours degree will provide you with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge for a future career in the professional and commercial world of finance and law.

Using the extensive resources available from the Faculty of Management will enable you to broaden the technical and interpersonal skills now demanded by the market. The course will provide you with a sound understanding of the broader elements of finance and law, coupled with opportunities for personal and professional development.

The range of content provides you with the opportunity to tailor your learning based on your career goals. That includes the chance to select appropriate option units that align with your aspirations.

This enables our students to develop their expertise in specialist areas, or broaden their understanding of finance and law to open up a diverse variety of career opportunities.

Requisitos

This course requires a Foundation Degree with 60% or above in a required subject or HND with Merit or above in a required subject.

Required subjects: Law

GCSEs: This course requires GCSE English and Mathematics grade C (or grade 4 in the reformed GCSE grading) or equivalent qualifications.

Numeracy and literacy: We need to be sure that you can express yourself in written English and have basic numeracy skills. We look at Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework, which includes GCSEs, Key Skills and Functional Skills Level 2. If you do not have formal qualifications to this level or have alternatives, we may still be able to consider your application, please contact the Future Students Enquiry Team to find out more.

Apprenticeships: We recognise the transferable knowledge and skills gained through apprenticeships and welcome applications from students with the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Each application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Mature applicants: We recognise that mature applicants may have a wealth of experience rather than formal qualifications, so we’ll consider your application on these merits if it’s included in your application. You’ll need to apply to BU in the usual way through UCAS and you may be invited to an interview to discuss your suitability for the course based on the experience you tell us about in your application.

International entry requirements
IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Objetivos

On this course you will be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit. This will include senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners, demonstrators, technicians and research students. You may also benefit from regular guest lectures from industry.

Programa

Company Law: Build on general legal knowledge that applies to the business environment, to extend your competence in Company Law. You´ll learn how to apply Company Law at an advanced level.
Strategic Management: Develop the intellectual and professional qualities you´ll need for performing strategic analysis, making choices between strategies and executing those strategies with desired results.
Investment Management: The theories underpinning investment management and their practical application. You´ll learn about the current features of capital markets and savings products which will prepare you for business and personal investment.
If you don´t have IELTS 7.0 or higher, you´ll also need to study the following unit:

Advanced Academic English (AAE): Combine and refine your language and study skills. This includes accessing oral and written information, note-taking, participating in seminars, learning strategies for formal assessments and using reference materials.
Company Law: Build on general legal knowledge that applies to the business environment, to extend your competence in Company Law. You´ll learn how to apply Company Law at an advanced level.
Strategic Management: Develop the intellectual and professional qualities you´ll need for performing strategic analysis, making choices between strategies and executing those strategies with desired results.
