Presentación

The BSc Mathematics with Foundation Year scheme combines a foundation year (Level 0) followed by the standard BSc modules (Levels 1, 2 and 3), making it appropriate for students who do not have the necessary entry requirements for one of our three year degree schemes. At the end of the foundation year, students will progress to one of our Single Honours degree schemes in Mathematics.

Requisitos

Applicants who took Mathematics at A-Level should have CDD or equivalent.

Applicants who did not study Mathematics at AS or A-Level should have BBC or equivalent and a B grade for GCSE Mathematics.

Welsh Baccalaureate: Pass acceptable as equivalent to an A grade A level.

Applicants with a BTEC or ´Access to Science´ background are welcomed.

Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants with GCSE qualifications alone.

Access to HE (Science): 27 Merits to include Mathematics.

IB: 24 (including 4 in Maths Higher Level).

OS applicants should have CDD equivalent and IELTS 6.0 (all components at least 5.5).

All applications will be considered on an individual basis, and we will look at the whole application when deciding whether to make an offer of a place, including: the balance, nature and quality of A-level, AS and GCSE subjects (or equivalent); personal statement and referee’s comments.

General Studies and Key Skills qualifications are normally excluded from our offers.

Salidas profesionales

The ability to think rationally and to process data clearly and accurately are highly valued by employers. Mathematics graduates earn on average 50% more than most other graduates. The most popular areas are the actuarial profession, the financial sector, IT, computer programming and systems administration, and opportunities within business and industry where employers need mathematicians for research and development, statistically analysis, marketing and sales.

Some of our students have been employed by AXA, BA, Deutsche Bank, Shell Research, Health Authorities and Local Government. Teaching is another area where maths graduates will find plenty of career opportunities. There is also the option to study further for a higher degree.
