    Modern nursing requires a significant degree of underpinning knowledge combined with practical skills. Nurses need effective communication skills and a caring and compassionate nature as well as respect for the dignity and safety of other. They require the ability to work flexibly and autonomously within a team which may comprise a number of other professionals from medicine, therapies and social work.


    Candidates need to demonstrate a strong educational profile and a clear commitment to their chosen nursing field.

    GCSE profiles need to include a minimum of 5 passes including Welsh/English Language, Mathematics and a Physical Science or Double Award Science at Grade A-C.

    Candidates also require a minimum of: BBC at A2 level

    Additional requirements

    Please note: candidates will be expected to participate in group discussions and team work during interviews.
    All applicants need to demonstrate success at study in the previous three to five years.
    Although no specific subjects are required at A Level, it is beneficial to study health or science related courses.
    Care experience can be helpful but is not essential and all candidates will be expected to demonstrate a detailed understanding of mental health nursing.

    Any offer of a place will require:

    A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously CRB check).

    Occupational Health Check .

    Satisfactory character reference.

    Availability of an NHS bursary.
