Presentación

Our graduates will be creative and informed photojournalists who are ready to shape the future of this highly competitive industry.

You will learn how to create photojournalism features by studying a wide range of photographic practices and skills, including hands-on project work and presentations, transmitting images from our electronic picture desk, editing pictures for publication, and taking an idea from concept to post-production using digital and traditional technologies.

There will be opportunities to work with external professional organisations on a number of real and simulated briefs, including the regional, national and international press and various press agencies, increasing your photographic portfolio for publication in both print and online platforms.

Digital photography and social media feature prominently throughout the course, reflecting their growing importance in the photojournalism industry, with students encouraged to go out into the local community, engaging with people and becoming confident, effective communicators.

Requisitos

Titulo de Bachillerato or the Selectividad with an average mark of 6.
Curso de Orientación Universitaria (COU) with an average mark of 6.
Técnico Especialista (Formación Profesional – segundo grado).
Ingeniero Técnico (from Escuela de Ingeniero Técnico).
Diplomado / Diplomatura.
English language qualifications:

GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
IELTS with an average overall score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each component
TOEFL IBT minimum score for Undergraduate of 80 IBT
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 169 with at least 162 in each component ; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill
Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE II Distinction or ISE III Pass for undergraduate courses
City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests, in some cases, we may also be able to accept the communicator level (B2)
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 51 points in each element for the majority of undergraduate programmes

Learning and teaching methods
Course teaching is highly practical by design, complimented by group learning sessions providing opportunity for discussion and reflection. Innovations in teaching and learning will be utilised throughout the course, helping students’ development toward becoming self confident learners with the ability to work both as part of a team or independently.

A variety of different learning and teaching methods are utilised including, lectures, workshops, case studies, presentations and group work; in addition to guest speakers from industry.

The course will provide opportunities to take part in group trips to photography festivals, and to document places or events of key interest.

Salidas profesionales

This course will produce creative individuals who are able to operate effectively and successfully within a rapidly changing industry.

Graduates will have the ability to use all aspects of developing social media and be literate across multi-platform media, preparing them for employment in a number of professional fields.
