Violence and aggression within health and social care is a well recognised problem and practitioners are increasingly being expected to demonstrate a greater understanding of the causes of violence and aggression.
This flexible degree programme will meet the development needs of practitioners and educators who work across all health and social care sectors, as well as those directly concerned with risk assessment, management and security. You will develop your knowledge and skills related to the recognition, prevention and safe management of aggression and violence in line with current legislation and best practice guidance.
It is anticipated that successful graduates of this course will become leaders in the field of violence reduction within their professional remit.

Learning and teaching methods
Teaching approaches vary according to the topic and student needs. They include interactive tutorials, student-led seminars, critical incident analysis, resource-based learning materials and a variety of group-work activities.
Each module involves a blocked week of study at the University in June/ July of each year. Modules one and two run simultaneously in a two-week block, with module three held the following year. Accommodation is available on campus should you require it.
Successful completion of Part One (modules one, two and three) will attain the BSc Professional Practice (Violence Reduction). You must complete the Professional Practice Project to obtain an Honours degree. This can be achieved in a minimum of two academic years.
