Are you passionate about pursuing your career in the sports coaching industry? The Sports Coaching and Performance degree provides the opportunity for students that have completed a Foundation Degree, preferably in Sports Coaching, to progress onto the final year of a BSc Sports Coaching & Performance degree

A distinct part of the sports coaching course is the opportunity to gain invaluable coaching experience. You’ll cover key theoretical issues that support the coaching process, including talent identification, athlete development and player development models. You’ll also explore how sport science principles relate strength and conditioning, fitness testing and physiology to coaching and performance.

Your teaching and practical exercises will take place at USW Sport Park, our £3.7m state-of-the-art coaching and performance development centre, which is regularly used for training by public and professional sport teams.

Requisitos

Titulo de Bachillerato or the Selectividad with an average mark of 6.
Curso de Orientación Universitaria (COU) with an average mark of 6.
Técnico Especialista (Formación Profesional – segundo grado).
Ingeniero Técnico (from Escuela de Ingeniero Técnico).
Diplomado / Diplomatura.
English language qualifications:

GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
IELTS with an average overall score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each component
TOEFL IBT minimum score for Undergraduate of 80 IBT
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 169 with at least 162 in each component ; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill
Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE II Distinction or ISE III Pass for undergraduate courses
City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests, in some cases, we may also be able to accept the communicator level (B2)
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 51 points in each element for the majority of undergraduate programmes
Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements, we run a number of courses to prepare you for academic studies

Learning and teaching methods
You will undertake a dissertation and 5 modules. Teaching will comprise of lectures, seminars and practical delivery in the field and laboratory. The work-based learning module will be managed through weekly tutorials and a comprehensive mentoring programme.

You will also have access to USW Sport Park, which is designed for our elite athletes.

Salidas profesionales

92% of our Sport graduates are employed or in further study 6 months after graduation (Source: Graduate Destination Survey 2011/12).

This course is designed to prepare you for a career in sports coaching in a variety of roles that could include: participant coach, school coach, community coach or working within the sports development industry. Alternatively graduates find work within the health and fitness industry, strength and conditioning, performance analysis, or choose to study as a physical education teacher.
