Presentación

This multidisciplinary single honours programme enables you to integrate many branches of biomedical science to understand the molecular mechanisms of human health and disease.

At Keele, you’ll develop a deep appreciation of human disorders and diseases from a scientific and an NHS Pathology practitioner’s perspective. Your studies will integrate human physiology, biochemistry, pathology, immunology, neuroscience and molecular and cell biology, benefiting from research-led teaching and the input of professionals at the Royal Stoke University Hospital’s Pathology Department. Placement opportunities may include a one year work placement or a summer’s research in the UK or abroad or you could apply for selection onto the Applied Biomedical Science degree, which includes a hospital pathology laboratory placement. Your degree will be accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, assuring you of the quality of the programme as preparation for a career in Pathology.

Salidas profesionales

Your Biomedical Science degree from Keele will prepare you to work in high-tech hospital laboratories in the NHS or private sector, but you might also work in consultancy, research, education or management. You might work as a biomedical scientist in the haematology, clinical biochemistry, clinical immunology, microbiology or histopathology sections of Pathology. Alternatively, you might branch out into patent law, medical sales or teaching or build on your Biomedical Science degree to study for other healthcare professional careers such as medicine. Doing a placement as part of a degree will put invaluable work experience on your CV.
