You will study a series of introductory modules in criminology and criminal justice and law, designed to give you a well-rounded grounding within the field, which will also be supplemented with an additional study skills module designed to support your studies and future progression.
Key modules
You will study modules worth a total of 120 credits with 60 credits from criminology and a further 60 credits in law:

Understanding Crime, Victims and Society
Legal skills
Public law
Legal sources and systems

You will also be required to undertake a further 10 credit module:
Enhancing Academic success (10 Credit)
Learning and teaching methods
You will be taught through a combination of lectures and discussion-based or practical seminars, which will develop your ability to form arguments and tackle specific problems.
You will also complete reading, library research, topic-related research, project work and preparation for presentations. We have expert, practitioner guest speakers on a number of modules and encourage students to attend British Society of Criminology (Wales and West) branch talks.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in field trips to working prisons and young offenders’ institutions.
