Presentación

The CEU-University of Chicago Bilingual Program in Pharmacy is a joint initiative of the two universities of the Fundacion Universitaria San Pablo- CEU (CEU Cardenal Herrera and CEU San Pablo) and The University of Chicago, by which students of the Degree in Pharmacy receive an international training in English as part of their official degree studies.
The students obtain more than 80 credits of their official pharmacy studies in English, taught by qualified teaching staff from CEU San Pablo University. Students must pass 60 of these credits to complete the Bilingual Program in Pharmacy.

The University of Chicago is seventh in the World University ranking.
The University of Chicago faculty have received 81 Nobel Prizes and currently 7 Nobel Laureate Professors are on board.

Requisitos

To be admitted students must first pass the general university entrance examinations and, also, oral and written English examinations.
Secondly, before completing the first semester of their third year studies and, in all cases, before starting the first module of the Program with The University of Chicago, students must obtain a minimum mark of at least 530 in the TOEFL exam. Only students obtaining a mark of 560 or higher in this exam will be allowed to study at The University of Chicago. Although these requirements may initially appear rather demanding, they guarantee that students have not only acquired professional knowledge during the first years of their Pharmacy degree, but have, also, made progress in their language skills, which is essential if they are to benefit fully from subjects taught in English by teachers from the University of Chicago in Madrid and in Chicago.
An additional criterion for students to be accepted for the international mobility in The University of Chicago, is that they must first pass 90% of the credits from the first four years of their Pharmacy degree.

Competencias

The CEU-University of Chicago Bilingual Program is a valuable and distinguishing feature in the academic curriculum of students who have obtained an international qualification with the University of Chicago, a prestigious university over 115 years old, with 81 Nobel prize-winners to its name.
With this qualification, in addition to the students’ official studies in Pharmacy, they also receive an excellent training in clinical trials management, an area of the sector with good employment opportunities, as well as completing a work placement in a company in Chicago. Clearly, part of this distinctive Program is that students develop their English related to this field of work, especially in the area of health sciences and, therefore, in the pharmacy profession, since English is considered to be the universal language of science and technology and is often regarded as an essential criterion to work in both public and private institutions in the biosanitary sector.
