Learning and teaching methods
There will be an emphasis on lecture and seminar-driven teaching before progressing to the hands-on, clinical components. Lectures and “Phantom-head” type teaching will occur over 6 days toward the beginning of year one, and live clinical practice occurs over 6 further days in the second half of the year. In year two you will undertake further self-study and develop your practice case reports.

Course materials (including access to electronic journals) are made available after lectures via the Universities online portal “Blackboard”.

The course is designed around your needs, so you can choose a rate of study that best fits your development needs or career ambitions. For example, you may choose to exit the course after the first year with a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) and return to achieve the Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) at a later date. The maximum time frame for completion of the Diploma is five years.

Salidas profesionales

Graduates of this course will, with continued practitioner experience, become skilled in endodontic techniques and have opportunities to tailor their practice in becoming a Dentist with Special Interest (DwSI). It is likely that a PgD qualification such as this will enhance your prospect of joining DwSI lists as and when created by local health boards.

It is anticipated that this course could also be used as accreditation of prior and experiential learning (APEL) towards other postgraduate Masters programmes in endodontology or dentistry. You can also progress to a generic Masters qualification at University of South Wales.
