Presentación

The MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice provides a broad understanding of current issues relating to crime and the criminal justice system. It also provides the skills and qualifications necessary for careers in the criminal justice system.

The MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice provides an understanding of issues relating to crime and the criminal justice system, enhancing your career in this and related fields. Tuition draws upon the expertise of research staff in the University’s well established Centre for Criminology.

You will examine a range of crimes and criminal behaviour, the context of crime and responses to it. In addition to core areas of study, you can choose modules and/or pathways to suit your career development. You will explore an area of interest to you, through a 20,000-word dissertation, and gain a thorough grounding in qualitative and quantitative research methods – invaluable skills for any profession that includes planning, analysis and evaluation.

Requisitos

Licenciado/Título de Ingeniero/Título de Arquitecto with an average of 6.0-6.9, Aprobado or above

English language qualifications:
GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
IELTS with an average overall score 6.5 with at least a 5.5 in each component
TOEFL IBT minimum score 88
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 176 with at least 162 in each component; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill
Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE III Pass for postgraduate taught courses and research applications
City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests at expert and mastery levels (C2 and C1) for the majority of postgraduate programmes
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 67 points in each elemen
Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements, we run a number of courses to prepare you for academic studies.

Learning and teaching methods
You will learn through lectures, seminars and tutorials. Certificate (PgCert) and Diploma (PgDip) stages are taught in group sessions.

Salidas profesionales

This course provides the knowledge and skills to pursue careers in the criminal justice system, such as the police, courts, prison, probation services and youth offending services. You could also choose a career in government organisations such as the Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Welsh Government and local authorities. Graduates also go on to careers within voluntary agencies such as offender rehabilitation, victim support, community safety, and drug treatment services. It is also an excellent basis for further research at MPhil and PhD levels.
