    In a world where your brand sits among millions and where it seems your consumers would rather talk about you than to you, it is vital that marketing practitioners stay ahead of the game. Marketing is arguably at the centre of all business activity.

    Our newly developed framework incorporates specialist units which explore crucial, contemporary issues relating to today’s marketers, and is complemented by broader management units. This will develop your appreciation of the relationship between marketing and the wider sphere of the organisation and heighten the demand for your acumen the within industry. The diverse international culture at the Business School provides a truly global learning experience.

    Today’s emphasis on new media marketing means that most marketers are not solely communicating with a local or even national market. Learning in an environment which brings together staff and students from all over the world will give you the edge in industry to be a future leader in your area of expertise.


    UK honours degree, or for international students a degree education equivalent to a UK honours degree, 2:2 or above.


    Stage 1
    Managing People
    This unit aims to provide you with a secure foundation in the concepts and practice of management and leadership in the context of the changing nature of work and business in the international arena. A critically analytical and evaluative approach will be taken to explore these areas in a range of organisational scenarios, to develop a range of conceptual and practical managerial tools.

    Marketing & Strategy
    The Unit aims to explore and analyse the premise that in order to be successful, organisations need to gain a good understanding of their customers’ requirements and to seek to achieve organisational objectives through the satisfaction of their customers’ needs and wants. The Unit will also look at marketing against the backdrop of corporate strategy development, and establish the linkage between the two activities.

    Leadership Essentials
    This unit aims to provide you with a critical understanding of leadership theory and practice in a variety of business contexts. The unit supports you to recognise and address the challenges of contemporary leadership and enhances your knowledge and skills in areas such as strategic leadership, leading in a global context, and leading change.

    Stage 2
    Contemporary Issues in Marketing
    This unit explores and evaluates the theoretical and practical application of a range of contemporary issues in marketing management. The unit aims to draw upon the research conducted by academic members of staff within the Business School and to give you knowledge of the important developments in various areas of marketing thought and practice. Debate and critical evaluations of these issues will be encouraged throughout the unit delivery.

    Business Relationships & Networks
    The unit will examine the critical challenges, tasks and approaches associated with the management of inter-organisational relationships and networks, whether in domestic or international settings. It will explore both strategic management and marketing-related aspects of business-to-business relationships with the help of conceptual frameworks that utilise network-based perspectives.

    Marketing Communications
    Marketing communications is constantly developing and ever-changing. New theories, cultural influences and technological advances all combine to create a dynamic environment. The unit will examine the key issues and challenges in marketing communications. It will cover strategic issues of integration and planning as well as the tactical considerations needed to execute relevant marketing communications campaigns that meet consumer’s needs.

    Stage 3
    Research Project
    The Research Project provides Master´s level students with an opportunity to undertake a significant piece of self-managed research in a relevant area of particular interest.

    Optional work experience

    You will have the opportunity to undertake work experience as part of the research project unit, subject to interview and availability. The type of work being undertaken will be relevant to your course of study and will provide experience that informs your final research project. Combining work experience with the research project aims to attach further practical context to the value of your learning experience.
