Gain the essential knowledge and skills necessary for successful radiotherapy planning. It’s a highly focused course that gives you a thorough understanding of the key practices surrounding simulating and evaluating radiation doses for radiotherapy.

Requisitos

ne of the following
• a degree in radiotherapy and oncology or therapy radiography or evidence of equivalent study
• a diploma of the College of Radiographers or evidence of equivalent study in therapy radiography
• a qualification of equivalent standard and relevance, such as a degree or professional qualification in a related healthcare or medical physics subject
If English is not your first language you need an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.

Programa

Year one core modules
Fundamentals of radiotherapy planning
This module enhances your treatment planning knowledge and skills. You critically assess the effects of normal tissue sensitivity and dose limitations in the decision-making process of radiotherapy planning, and evaluate a range of 3D radiation treatment plans in depth.
Pre-treatment imaging
You develop a critical understanding of the role and importance of imaging in the pre-treatment process and evaluate the impact of a range of imaging modalities on this process.
Year one options
15 credits of optional modules including independent study, management or oncology based modules
Year two core modules
Advances in radiotherapy planning
You explore and evaluate technological innovations, new developments and future research avenues in all areas of radiotherapy planning.
Research methods for practice
You gain a broad understanding of research methodologies and research methods in order to prepare you to undertake a small scale research project.
Year two options
15 credits of optional modules including independent study, management or oncology based modules.
Year three modules
Dissertation
You complete an in-depth piece of independent learning to demonstrate critical understanding and the use of appropriate research methods.
