To provide an understanding and application of the tools required to operate as a financial trader, you will initially study modules in Risk and Portfolio Analysis,Technical Analysis and Fundamental Analysis. During this period you will begin to develop expertise in accessing and analysing data using Thomson Reuters Eikon financial database.
Modules focusing on the Psychology of Trading and Financial Services Compliance and Ethics, will also enable you to study and research the issues of psychology, regulation and ethics applicable to the role of a trader. These modules will be studied at our Cardiff Campus.
All students will then undertake a two month Practical Financial Trading module delivered on-site in Swansea by leading global trading company, OSTC .
The final stage of the course will be spent either completing a three month work-based learning internship at an OSTC trading floor or a written dissertation.

Learning and teaching methods
The course combines practical sessions based in our trading room for simulated trading and computer laboratory for analysis techniques using charting software and Thomson Reuters Eikon with classroom-based theoretical sessions for the study of regulation and psychology.
