Practical Nursing at Centennial College is all about offering you the in-depth knowledge, and increased level of skill and judgment required in today’s complex healthcare environment.
Curriculum in this School of Community and Health Studies program is based on the:
College of Nurses of Ontario practice standards and guidelines;
College of Nurses of Ontario entry to practice competencies (2009) for Registered Practical Nurses;
Vocational learning outcomes for Ontario Practical Nursing programs (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities).
The undertaking meets the 2009 Entry-to-Practice Competencies from the College of Nurses of Ontario. As such, you will learn to provide safe, competent and ethical care using resources and technologies for an increasingly complex client population. The Practical Nursing program will also prepare you to practice autonomously in a host of settings.
These competencies reflect the evolving and expanding role of the practical nurse as provided by the Nursing Act and the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
