Games Design Principles: Explore fundamental game design principles, including player psychology, balance, immersion, and meaningful choices. Learn to create engaging gameplay experiences.
E-Sports Industry Awareness: Understand the dynamic E-Sports landscape, revenue models, and the impact of live streaming. Explore the range of teams, tournaments and leagues and gain insight into the commercial operation of a broad range of e-sports business activities.
Streaming Fundamentals: Learn essential live streaming concepts, including technical aspects (encoding, bitrates), engagement strategies and the principles of designing and configuring an e-sports streaming system.
E-Sports Athlete Management: Dive into athlete management strategies, covering talent identification, training programs, health, and performance analysis. Understand the holistic approach to optimising E-Sports athletes’ performance.
Digital Marketing and Content Creation: Explore digital marketing concepts (SEO, social media) and content creation strategies. Learn to create valuable digital content for platforms like Twitch and YouTube using a range of tools, techniques and technologies.
E-Sports Group Project: Work collaboratively on simulated real-world E-Sports project. Apply knowledge from other units to solve challenges related to events, content creation, and industry opportunities – resulting in a pitch presentation.
YEAR 2
Gaming Technology Innovations: Gain an insight into exciting new technological developments associated with gaming. Use innovative technology to explore how new competitive gaming platforms and devices are being developed.
Commercialisation and Business Development: Develop a range of business knowledge and skills that will allow you to become a future entrepreneur and business owner! The unit will introduce you to key aspects of finance, legal, copyright and IP and business idea development through a series of practical learning activities.
Streaming Production: Take your livestreaming skills to the next level! Using our state of the art workstations, you will develop the ability to plan, create and present your own e-sports live streams.
E-Sports Digital Communities: Explore the social, cultural and ethical implications associated with e-sports – through the study of topics such as digital addiction, social media behaviours and the roles and responsibilities of online communities.
E-Sports Event Management: Develop a range of practical skills associated with the planning and delivery of e-sports events. Working a group, you will be given the opportunity to plan and run an e-sports event.

Data Analytics in E-Sports: Immerse yourself in the exciting area of data analytics, learning the essential role that a range of data sources play within the management of an e-sports team.
Advanced Live Streaming and Broadcast: ‘Go live’ and make a contribution to a range of roles within a complex e-sports broadcast. Develop skills as a presenter, producer, director or one of the many technical roles associated with the live streaming production pipeline.
Contemporary Topics in E-Sports: Be part of the emerging body of research and study of e-sports within the academic and professional practice communities. You will get the opportunity to study papers, read commercial reports and attend presentations from a range of practitioners and apply this knowledge to your own piece of original research.
Professional Practice and Employability: Use all the skills and knowledge from the course to develop and market your brand and online portfolio – fine tune your CV and showreel and make contacts with potential future employers and partners. The end of year ‘expo’ will provide you the opportunity to maximise your future career prospects!
E-Sports Individual Project: Extend and develop your own specific areas of interest within the e-sports subject area through the development of an extended individual project. This will fuse together a range of academic, practical and commercial skills.
