This course combines multi-disciplinary training in TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, and online journalism
These creative areas are enhanced by the traditional benefits of an academic education
The programme has close contact with leading journalists, editors, and professional training bodies
Practical work is project-based with students writing newspaper and magazine copy and producing radio and television bulletins and packages to industry standards and deadlines
A professional working environment is simulated in dedicated newsrooms and digitally equipped studios


The entry requirements for this course are 112-128 tariff points from 3 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications.

If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence that you can understand English to a satisfactory level. English language requirements for this course are normally:

IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.


We are looking for applicants that have a sound grasp of the English language, creative writing ability and a good presentational style
Student’s must be aware of world affairs and be able to express their own opinions and thoughts
We also like applicants to have undertaken some work experience within a media environment

Our graduates are now in positions such as newsreader at Capital Radio, producer for BBC Sport, correspondent for Sky News, and news editor of Heat magazine. Our students have worked as video journalists on Panorama, as reporters for Sky and as financial journalists for Bloomberg. Students have won numerous awards recently including the New Magazine Concept at the Periodicals Training Council’s Magazine Academy Awards, and the Sports Journalism Award at the National Student Journalism Awards.

One of our third year students has already had her final year radio project on Disney´s ´The Princess and the Frog´ commissioned by a Radio Arts Show in New York.
